This is Evelyn McHale after her jump from the Empire State Building in May of 1947. 'The Most Beautiful Suicide' is what Life magazine titled this photo by Robert C. Wiles, a photographer that happened to be across the street when she landed with a crash on a UN limousine.

It says these "well trained" girls received 2000£ a week - hard to figure out, but based on this page, it seems like that would be about 28,870£ in today's money (or $44,893). Exorbitant!
